Speaking with “higher-ups”

I am happy with the people that lead our team. The sense of them wanting to help you better yourself in your career is amazing. I spoke with a Senior Lead (We can refer to her as Alice) in our Creaive Design department about life and my career and was told to get in contact with her once I gain more experience or I finish school.

Now that I am back at with the same company, I get contact Alice and she remembers me! We connected on LinkedIn during my internship days and explained to me about the work they were doing at the time, which was 360 integration (with the 360 cameras and such) for shark week. After speaking with her, I was able to get in contact with her Managers and was set an appointment to meet up with my director, the department VPs and Alice!

As I grow older, I understand more about communication and staying in contact with people. It makes sense that networking is another tool to use in life – to help progress. The simple act of speaking to someone, communicating and letting everyone know that you are here and ready to make a difference is powerful. The relationship you build with people really matters, and if you can make an impact, your name will be rememebered. I promise you this.

Happy Hump Day!

Legsport Duckbill Install

Finally. The day has come to install this beauty. Below, I will go over every step I took to install the Legsport Duckbill (since no one has made a DIY yet.)

I will also post this DIY to the FT86 forum for a second reference.

Things you will need for the installation:

  • Microfiber Cloth(s)
  • Detailing Spray (Meguiar’s: Quik Detailer)
  • 3M double-sided mounting tape (Might be provided with purchase of Duckbill)
  • Optional: A friend to help
  • Time of Install: 5 – 30 minutes

Step 1: Clean and make sure that no residue or packaging material is on the Duckbill. I suggest using Meguiar’s: Quik Detailer and a microfiber cloth (shown in step three). These will do the best job possible for getting anything off the Duckbill.

Step 2: Prepare the duckbill by taping along the edges and curve crease. Be prepared to use all the tape provided! As you can see, I was given enough tape just to tape the important parts of the Duckbill, so please follow my tape pattern for optimal fitment.

Step 3: Once Duckbill has been prepped, proceed to clean the surface area of the trunk to prevent from any residue getting onto the tape of the Duckbill. We don’t want anything getting in the way and create a pocket for wind to get in! Again, I recommend Meguiar’s: Quik Detailer and a microfiber cloth to clean this area.

Step 4: Now that you have the surface cleaned, Duckbill cleaned and prepped with tape, and your helping buddy is ready – you can now proceed with placing the Duckbill onto the trunk. Be sure to remove the tape cover before placing the Duckbill on the trunk. This is where teamwork and communication is needed so that the Duckbill is placed on properly.

Step 4.1: I’m sure most of us may not have a buddy available to help and are doing the install ourselves. That is okay! I did this install myself and was relieved to know that this install was easy. Before removing the tape cover, place the Duckbill onto the trunk and position accordingly. Once positioned, lift the duckbill slightly so that you can remove the tape cover as you are firmly pressing the Duckbill onto the trunk.

Step 5: VIOLA! You have successfully installed your new Legsport FR-S/BRZ/TOYOTA86 Duckbill. Please be sure to secure the Duckbill by pushing down on the areas taped down to ensure that the tape makes contact with both the trunk and the Duckbill. Apply moderate pressure. I recommend giving the tape 2 – 3 days to settle before going on the roads. Unless you are a Dare Devel like me, you wait a day and drive up to 80 MPH/129 KPM (Legally, of course). Don’t be me.

You might be asking yourself “How does he know how to install Duckbills?” Well, I don’t, but that’s the fun part to modifications – you mod and you learn! If you have any questions or concerns or possibly made a few mistakes along the way, feel free to contact me and I will answer any questions you have.

How do I do this?

I know. I know. I know.

You never know what you are getting yourself into, when you pick up something new. Attempting to purchase your first car (whether used or new), applying for new jobs, saying hello to the girl you like – it’s never easy, but who said it ever was?

There are butterflies in my stomach when I experience new things. Am i paying too much for this car? Is the car going to last me? Will I get the job? Will I, at least, get an interview? Am I under qualified? Will she say yes? Will she notice me? There are times where the questions you seek the answer to will grow immensely as you receive different responses. You may noticed that I have not included the “How” questions.

How…? Whenever you ask these type of [vague] questions, you will get [vague] responses. The questions provide insufficient information to give you want you truly want to know. Luckily, we live in an era where you can just google your questions and someone, from somewhere in the world, will answer those questions. Good. Your curiosity has led you to the first step to finding out How.
